13TH INTERNATIONAL MEET OF COMMUNIST & WORKERS' PARTY AT ATHENS



The proceedings of the 13th International Meeting of the Communist and Workers parties were successfully completed which was hosted by the KKE (Communist Party of Greece ) in Athens from the 9th to the 11th of December 2011.
There were over 100 representatives at the meeting of 78 Communist and Workers parties from 59 countries from every continent in the world. Several Communist and Workers parties were not able to attend and sent messages of greetings to the International Meeting.

The participation of the Communist and Workers parties surpassed every precedent. These meetings began in Athens at the initiative of the KKE 13 years ago, where it was held for 7 consecutive years from 1999, and later travelled to every continent of the world to return this year to Athens.

The theme of this years meeting was: Socialism is the Future!The international situation and the experience of the communists 20 years after the counterrevolution in the USSR. The tasks for the development of the class struggle in conditions of capitalist crisis, imperialist wars, of the current popular struggles and uprisings, for working class-popular rights, the strengthening of proletarian internationalism and the anti-imperialist front, for the overthrow of capitalism and the construction of socialism”.

The parties that participated in the meeting discussed the conclusions which are to be drawn 20 years after the counterrevolution in the USSR, they exchanged experiences and assessments concerning the developments and tasks of the communists.
